In the midst of the storm I find it calming to make a gratitude list. Although negativity tries to win out, I have to constantly focus on what is good. It can be the smallest thing like a red bird perched on a tree. I ask myself “how in the world did that bird get red?” Another one of my old standbys is to sit quietly without any interruptions. This truly can help settle the mind. I try to visualize a power greater than myself; that power being God. A great teacher once told me “when you are walking through a storm, keep walking.” I love the lessons that I learn in life; both the good and the challenging.
