Living in addiction can cause one to sit around the daylong reminiscing on the past. Thinking about all the things that they could of, would of, or should of done. Or perhaps one will string along all the things that they will do in the future. While we are contemplating all the yearlong days, we forget about the here and now–the present. So in the meantime, we forget to live life!
On he other hand, the present is a gift from God that is why it is called a present. Let us not prong along trying to belong. We do not have to be headstrong recollecting our past. Instead, “whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about those things.” Philippians 4:8
Sure, challenges will come and go. But everything that looks good, is not always good and everything that looks bad is not always bad. We might not always get what we what, but if we have faith, we will always get what we need.
Therefore, look at life like a box of chocolates. We get to pick and choose what type of day we will have. We can choose to lust after what we do not have, or we can enjoy what we do have. There is something delightful in every situation, if only we will take the time right now to appreciate the goodie.
Before long, there will be no more wishing, but we will come to sing all the daylong!
What type of day will you choose?
